The United Nations said Sudan requires $2.9 billion to deliver urgent humanitarian assistance to around 20 million people trapped in what it described as the world’s largest displacement crisis.
According to a breaking report cited by Egypt’s Al-Qahera News channel, the UN warned that the ongoing conflict has pushed millions of Sudanese into extreme vulnerability, with widespread shortages of food, healthcare and basic services.
The UN noted that humanitarian needs have surged as fighting continues across large parts of the country, exacerbating displacement, hunger and disease. Aid agencies are struggling to reach affected populations due to insecurity and funding gaps.
The situation in Sudan has deteriorated sharply since the outbreak of war, placing immense pressure on neighboring countries and the international humanitarian system, the UN said, urging donors to scale up support to prevent a further catastrophe.
