The United Nations Security Council is holding its regular session this Tuesday under the agenda item "The Situation in the Middle East, including the Palestinian Question," with a primary focus on settlement activities.
During the session, members are scheduled to hear two briefings, the first from Ramiz Alakbarov, the Deputy UN Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, and the second from Nickolay Mladenov, the High Representative of the "Peace Council" in Gaza.
Alakbarov will present the quarterly update on the implementation of Resolution 2334, issued on December 23, 2016, which demands that Israel cease all settlement activities in the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem. Meanwhile, Mladenov will provide a briefing on the implementation of Resolution 2803, issued on November 17, 2025, which endorsed President Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza.
