President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Antonio Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, who expressed his keenness to continue consulting with the president regarding developments in the escalation in the Gaza Strip and military confrontations between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, in light of the rapid developments that represent a threat to regional stability.
The two sides reviewed the ongoing contacts and movements at the international and regional levels to urge the restoration of calm and reduce tension, stressing the importance of avoiding expanding the circle of conflict, and allowing room for diplomatic efforts to protect civilians.
In this context, the Secretary-General thanked the President for the efforts made by Egypt, and its appreciated role in exerting efforts to facilitate the arrival of humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
