The Secretary-General of United Nations (UN) Antonio Guterres condemned burning of the Noble Qur’an in Sweden, stressing the need to work to confront the phenomenon of Islamophobia.
This came during a phone call with the Iraqi Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Fuad Hussein, to discuss the abuse that the Holy Quran was subjected to by an Iraqi residing in the Kingdom of Sweden.
On his part, Iraqi PM stressed that these actions raise and develop multiple problems between the countries of the Islamic world and European societies, in which these events and positions occur.
Moreover, Hussein underlined the need to work internationally to combat these ideas that lead to insulting the sanctities and their symbols and burning the heavenly books, including the Holy Quran.
