United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has condemned the large-scale airstrikes carried out by Russia in recent days, which have resulted in numerous civilian casualties across Ukraine.
The Secretary-General also expressed concern over reports of Ukrainian drone strikes impacting civilian populations in Russia.
Guterres emphasized that attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure are prohibited under international law. He reiterated his condemnation of all such attacks, regardless of where they occur.
He renewed his call for a full, immediate, and unconditional ceasefire in Ukraine as a first step toward a just, comprehensive, and lasting peace, in accordance with the United Nations Charter, international law, and relevant UN resolutions.
