UN Secretary-General Arrives in Algeria to Attend Arab Summit

Today, Tuesday, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres arrived in Algeria to attend the 31st Arab League as a guest of honor.

Guterres was received at Algiers International Airport by Ramtane Lamamra, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad.

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev, the current head of the Non-Aligned Movement, arrived early today in Algeria to participate as a guest of honor at the Arab Summit.

The President of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, also arrived in Algeria to participate in the Arab Summit, which begins later today and will last for two days.

On his part, Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi arrived today in Algeria, to participate in the summit.

Ambassador Bassam Rady, the official spokesman for the Presidency of the Republic said the Algiers summit will aim at consultation and coordination among the brotherly Arab countries with regard to efforts to maintain security and stability in the region and promote Arab interests, especially in light of the multiple challenges that exist at the international and regional levels.
