The United Nations' leading humanitarian official expressed grave concerns on Saturday regarding the imminent threat to the entire population of northern Gaza, urging an immediate cessation of what she termed the "blatant disregard for basic humanity" exhibited by Israeli forces.

In a message shared on the social media platform X, Joyce Msuya, the acting Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and UN Emergency Relief Coordinator, said: "The actions of Israeli forces in the besieged northern Gaza cannot be permitted to persist."

She highlighted the dire situation, noting that hospitals have been targeted, health professionals have been detained, and first responders have been obstructed from aiding individuals trapped beneath debris.

"Shelters have been abandoned and set ablaze… families have been torn apart, and men and boys have been taken away in large numbers," she remarked.

Reports indicate that hundreds of Palestinians have lost their lives since Israeli security forces intensified their operations in northern Gaza earlier this month, resulting in the displacement of tens of thousands.

Msuya cautioned, "The entire population of northern Gaza is at risk of dying." She emphasized that "Such blatant disregard for basic humanity and for the laws of war must cease."
