The United Nations estimates that around 40,000 Palestinians have been forcibly displaced from their homes and land in the occupied West Bank since the beginning of 2025 amid escalating demolitions and mounting pressure from Israeli policies.
UN deputy spokesperson Farhan Haq warned that conditions across Palestinian communities in the territory continue to deteriorate as displacement levels rise sharply.
The organization documented the displacement of 42 additional Palestinians during the first week of May alone as military operations and tensions intensified across several areas of the West Bank.
Among those displaced were 24 children, underscoring the growing impact on vulnerable families facing repeated demolitions, violence, and instability.
UN sources also warned that attacks by armed settlers have become a near-daily threat in many Palestinian towns and villages, involving property damage, physical assaults, and the destruction of homes and essential infrastructure.
According to the organization, many of these incidents occur under the protection of Israeli forces, contributing to fears among residents and accelerating forced displacement.
The UN described the measures as part of a broader effort targeting Palestinians in the occupied territory and attempting to alter the demographic and geographic reality of the West Bank.
The organization stressed that the continued displacement of civilians in occupied territories constitutes a serious violation of international law, which prohibits the forced transfer of populations under military occupation.
