Abdullah Al-Dardari, Director of the Regional Bureau for Arab States at the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), stated on Tuesday that the cost of Gaza reconstruction amounts to $50 billion.
In a statement to Al Arabiya Al Hadath news TV channel, Al-Dardari added that the most critical phase comes after reaching a ceasefire because about 2 million people are homeless and awaiting reconstruction efforts.
The UN official emphasized the need to establish a mechanism to set up a sufficient number of temporary homes ready to enter Gaza the day after the ceasefire, covering related needs such as health, education, drinking water, sanitation, and electricity.
He clarified that the early recovery program costs approximately $2 billion, while the full reconstruction of Gaza is estimated at around $50 billion.
