The United Nations revealed Monday that more than 123,000 people have been displaced in the Gaza Strip since the outbreak of the conflict between Palestinian resistance groups and Israeli forces.

In a statement, the UN’s humanitarian agency (OCHA) said: “Over 123,538 people, have been internally displaced in Gaza, mostly due to fear, protection concerns, and the destruction of their homes.”

As per OCHA, over 73,000 individuals are presently seeking refuge in schools, which have been converted into emergency shelters.

UNRWA spokesperson Adnan Abu Hasna expected that the number of people seeking shelter in schools will rise.

He also mentioned that the schools offer crucial amenities like electricity, clean water, meals, psychological support, and medical care.

Gaza, home to 2.3 million Palestinians, has been under Israeli blockade since Hamas gained power in 2007.
