A number of United Nations member states have condemned recent Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, warning that the steps risk undermining international law and prospects for a two-state solution.

In a joint statement delivered at UN headquarters in New York, a broad group of countries voiced strong opposition to what they described as unilateral actions aimed at expanding Israel’s presence in the territory occupied since 1967.

The statement criticized policies related to settlement expansion and administrative measures affecting land in the West Bank, saying such steps alter the legal and demographic status of the territory. The signatories stressed that these actions contravene Israel’s obligations under international law and called for their immediate reversal.

The coalition reaffirmed its commitment to a negotiated two-state solution based on relevant UN resolutions and international legal frameworks. It also rejected any measures that would change the character and status of the occupied Palestinian territory, including East Jerusalem.

The condemnation comes amid heightened tensions in the West Bank and continued international scrutiny of Israeli settlement activity, which has long been considered illegal under international law by the United Nations and much of the international community.

Israeli officials have previously defended settlement policies, citing security and historical claims to the land.

The latest diplomatic push at the United Nations underscores growing concern among member states over developments on the ground and their potential impact on regional stability and peace efforts.
