The war between the Islamic Resistance Movement ( Hamas) and Israel has caused the displacement of more than 260,000 people inside the Gaza Strip since Saturday, while the heavy Israeli bombardment continues by air, land, and sea on the Strip, according to the United Nations (UN) announcement.
Violent confrontations have left thousands dead on both sides of the conflict since the Hamas movement launched a surprise operation on Saturday, to which Israel responded with a bombing campaign, according to what Agence France-Presse (AFP) reported.
The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) said in an update to its data on Tuesday: “It is believed that more than 263,934 people in Gaza have fled their homes,” adding that “this number is likely to rise.”
The Secretary-General of the United Nations, António Guterres, expressed his concern after Israel announced the complete blockade. Especially due to the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the already poor sector.
