The deputy spokesperson for the United Nations (UN), Farhan Haq, said that Israel's closure of the border crossings with the Gaza Strip has reduced electricity generation and prevented the entry of essential medical supplies.

Haq explained during a press conference that this closure prevented the scheduled entry of about 600 trucks loaded with vital commodities, such as food, medical supplies, and fuel, and expressed his hope that "this problem will be resolved soon."

According to the United Nations website,  Haq that one of the results of the closure of the crossings was the inability to bring fuel into Gaza; This forced the power plant in the Strip to reduce its operations.

Haq added that the provision of electricity in Gaza has now been reduced to an average of 12 hours per day until the necessary fuel is secured.

In addition, the UN Security Council will hold tonight a closed consultation session on the aggression on Gaza, during which members will listen to a briefing by the United Nations Special Coordinator for the Middle East Peace Process, Tor Winsland.
