Director of the Office of the UN regional coordinator Max Schott hailed the efforts of the Egyptian authorities in providing relief and emergency services, including dry food items and personal hygiene kits.
"I would like also to thank Egypt for keeping the Arqin border crossing open for urgent assistance to those fleeing violence and clashes in Sudan," Schott said in an interview.
The Government of Egypt and the Egyptian Red Crescent (ERC) have taken steps to mitigate the impact of the Sudanese crisis on children and families in close coordination with UNICEF, and development partners, by providing and delivering immediate humanitarian services to arrivals.
