UN-Habitat Egypt will spotlight Egypt’s experience in green social housing during a high-level discussion at the Sixth Arab Ministerial Forum for Housing and Sustainable Urban Development, scheduled to take place in Doha from 14 to 16, according to Ahmed Rizk, UN-Habitat’s representative in Egypt.
In a statement, Rizk said the session will highlight the role of green social housing in advancing climate goals and improving quality of life in the Arab region, while examining innovative financing tools to enhance the sustainability and affordability of housing programmes.
He added that discussions will cover sustainable design, energy-efficient materials, modern construction technologies, and capacity building in the construction sector, alongside policies needed to support inclusive and resilient communities.
Rizk further noted that the forum will also promote regional cooperation and knowledge exchange to accelerate the adoption of green social housing models across Arab countries, within the framework of the Arab Strategy for Housing, the New Urban Agenda and Sustainable Development Goal 11.
