Yesterday, Tuesday, the United Nations (UN) General Assembly adopted a resolution calling on Israel to withdraw from the Syrian Golan region, which Israel has occupied since 1967.
91 member states of the General Assembly voted in favor of the resolution, 8 countries opposed it, and 62 other countries abstained from voting.
The resolution stated that the members of the United Nations are “deeply concerned about Israel’s failure to withdraw from the Syrian Golan, which has been occupied since 1967, in contravention of the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly.”
It should be noted that the resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly are not binding.
It is noteworthy that Israel announced the annexation of the Golan region in 1981, which the United Nations considers illegal.
