The United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has expressed its deep concern over reports of clashes in South Darfur, Sudan, in recent days.
The violence has displaced about 20,000 people in many neighborhoods around Nyala, the capital of South Darfur state, according to United Nations Information Center, and preliminary reports from the International Organization for Migrants.
UN OCHA confirmed that it is closely monitoring the situation and is working to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to South Darfur, expressing regret because the current clashes impede the transfer of aid from East Darfur to the city of Nyala.
