To accelerate the achievement of Egypt Vision2030 and the SDGs, Egypt's International Cooperation Minister Rania Al-Mashat and Minister of communication and Technology Information Amr Talaat held the first ideation workshop on technology and innovation in cooperation with UN Egypt.
During the workshop, the Egyptian officials and UN representatives launched the UN-JTDI Initiative which aims at identifying integrated digital solutions and delivering the potential of new technologies as well.
In her address, Al-Mashat said, "We believe that technology and innovation are fundamental pillars of UN's sustainable agenda."
The International Cooperation Minister also mentioned that the workshop is the first step of cooperation between the government and UN-JTDI in Egypt to drive digital transformation efforts.
For his part, the ICT Minister highlighted that the initiative is aimed at encouraging partnership with the Egyptian government and the private sector to enhance the technology and innovation pillar as one of the main pillars to achieve 2030 SDGs at national, regional, and international levels.
Talaat also noted that the innovation and entrepreneurship pillar has been serving the pillars of digital transformation and human capacity building in the strategy of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT), seeking to encourage research and development (R&D), creativity and entrepreneurship in ICT.
In the same connection, UN Resident Coordinator in Egypt, Elena Panova affirmed the need to promote further cooperation between Egypt and the UN organizations to achieve global goals.
It's worth mentioning that the commission of the UN-JTDI Initiative will serve as the lead drafter of Egypt's government bills that adopt smart technology and innovative ideas.
