Libyan army confirmed on Tuesday that Turkey transported 8,000 Syrian militants to Libya, without giving any further details, according to Al-Arabiya website.
On his part, the United Nations (UN) special envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen denounced sending Turkey-allied Syrian fighters to Libya, describing the move as "very annoying".
Yesterday, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) affirmed that the process of pouring Syrian mercenaries into Libya is no longer a secret and is being conducted in public.
In a statement, the SOHR has revealed that a new batch of 120 Syrian militants loyal to Ankara arrived in Turkey in preparation for being transferred to Libya after receiving training there.
Moreover, it added that the number of those who have reached Libyan territory so far, “reached about 8950 mercenaries, including a non-Syrian group, while the number of those who arrived in the Turkish camps to receive training amounted to about 3024 recruits.”
