UN Confirms Tens of Thousands Displaced due to Fighting in Darfur

The United Nations (UN) confirms that nearly 100,000 people have been displaced from the Karinak area in the Sudanese state of West Darfur, and about 165 people were killed and 136 injured due to the bloody conflict that erupted in the region this month.

However, unofficial reports mentioned the continuation of the killings in the troubled region, After her visit to El Geneina, the capital of West Darfur State, the Humanitarian Coordinator in Sudan, Khurdiata Lou Ndiaye, confirmed the commitment of humanitarian partners to support thousands of people displaced from communal violence in Karinak and El Geneina in the state.

The UN revealed that about 98,000 people were displaced due to the conflict, and about 165 people were killed, while 136 were injured during the fighting that erupted between the Arab Bedouins and the Masalit African tribes in the period between 22-25 last April.
