The head of the United Nations (UN) Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs Martin Griffith stressed that the "COP27" conference is an opportunity to identify the countries most in need of funding to adapt to climate change.
Griffith stressed the importance of preparing a study to identify the countries most in need of financing to face climate change and the nature of these countries to grant them this financing as a loan or grant and the necessary amount to adapt to this phenomenon,” he said.
He noted that Somalia is one of the countries in most need of funding, especially in light of the spread of drought and famine that greatly affected its citizens.
Griffith welcomed the discussion of the magnitude of losses and damages caused by climate change during the sessions of the Climate Conference in Sharm El Sheikh.
