United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has welcomed the announcement of a 45-day extension of the ceasefire between Israel and Lebanon, following talks between the two sides facilitated by the United States.
According to the UN News Centre, a UN spokesperson emphasized that the Secretary-General urges all parties to fully respect the cessation of hostilities, halt further attacks, and comply at all times with their obligations under international law, including international humanitarian law.
The spokesperson reaffirmed that the United Nations remains committed to supporting all diplomatic efforts aimed at fostering the full implementation of Security Council Resolution 1701.
