Members of the Executive Boards of six United Nations agencies — the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), UN Women, and the World Food Programme (WFP) — visited the New Damietta Youth Center to witness how Egyptian youth are being empowered through government-led initiatives supported by UNICEF and partners.

The visit highlighted innovative programmes that use Sports for Development, climate action, and civic engagement as tools to equip young people with essential life skills and opportunities to become agents of positive change in their communities.

The initiatives reflect Egypt’s commitment to investing in its youth as drivers of sustainable development, with the support of the United Nations system and international partners. The New Damietta Youth Center serves as a model for how local engagement, combined with international collaboration, can inspire young people to build a more inclusive and resilient future.

The visit was part of a broader programme by the UN Executive Boards in Egypt to observe the impact of joint efforts between the Egyptian government and UN agencies in advancing youth empowerment, gender equality, and community development.
