At least 1119 Ukrainian civilians have been killed and 1790 others have been injured since the start of the Russian invasion, according to the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR).
In a statement, the UN office stated that most of the recorded civilian casualties resulted from the use of explosive weapons with a wide-area effect, including heavy artillery, multiple-launch missile systems, missile, and airstrikes.
In a statement, the OHCHR said that 1281 casualties (360 killed and 921 injured) were recorded in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, 995 (301 killed and 694 injured) in Government-controlled territory, and 289 (59 killed and 227 injured) in territory controlled by the self-proclaimed ‘republics’.
Moreover, 1628 casualties (759 killed and 869 injured) were recorded in other regions of Ukraine (the city of Kyiv, Cherkasy, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Kherson, Kyiv, Sumy, and Zaporizhzhia regions) in places, which were under Government control when casualties occurred.
