UK's Deputy Trade Commissioner Visits SCZone

Alastair Long, UK's Deputy Trade Commissioner for Africa said on Sunday that the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) is considered one of the most promising areas for British investments, especially in light of the investment opportunities available in the zone and the recent trade agreement between Egypt and England.

Long added on the sidelines of his visit to the economic zone today that he will encourage British investors to get acquainted with the investment opportunities available in the region, noting that the zone is considered one of the most strategic areas globally.

The delegation conducted an inspection tour inside some industrial entities in the southern region "Ain Sokhna", including the Joshi factory for the manufacture of fiberglass, the Suez Industrial Development Company (SIDC), and inspected the Sokhna port and the development processes it has witnessed.

Yehia Zaki, Chairman of Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) received the deputy trade commissioner along with a delegation from the British Embassy in Cairo, headed by Anisah Dathi, Country Director for Egypt, within the framework of strengthening commercial and economic relations between the two countries within the zone.

During the meeting, Zaki provided a detailed explanation about the region, including the incentives and exemptions it offers to attract new investors and increase competitiveness of the SCZone.

He also presented the strategy and objectives of the zone 2020-2025, which is represented in creating new investment opportunities in targeted industrial, maritime sectors and logistical centers, as well as localizing priority industries for the purpose of replacing imports.

The Chairman added that the zone is adopting a policy of integrated industrial clusters and creating platforms for small and medium-sized  industries in areas near the Delta region, especially in West Qantara, stressing that the zone is a global window for African markets because of its stratigic location and road network that the state is establishing to connect Egypt with the African continent.
