Unknown assailants opened fire on a car transporting top aide of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, police said on Wednesday.
“Over 10 bullets fired at car carrying Ukrainian president's principal aide Serhiy Shefir near the village of Lesnyky outside the capital Kiev,” the police stated, adding that the driver was wounded but Shefir remains unhurt.

The attack took place near Kiev around 10 a.m. local time, local news agency Strana reported, citing its law enforcement sources. The report noted that Shefir wasn't hit in the shooting.
Three projectiles ended up hitting the adviser's driver, who was hospitalized and is currently in an intensive care unit, according to the outlet.
The police statement indicated that there were no other passengers in the car, however, it did not give the condition of the wounded driver.
Meanwhile, Zelenskiy is in the United States to attend the UN General Assembly meeting in New York City.
