The footage is believed to have been filmed in the south of Ukraine, close to Crimea, according to the Mail Online.
The man, who came to be known as "tank man," was photographed holding shopping bags while facing tanks.
Notably, the vehicles had a "Z" symbol painted on the side, seen on other Russian military vehicles involved in the Ukraine invasion.
Russia launched its invasion on Ukraine by land, air and sea Thursday morning following a declaration of war by President Vladimir Putin. Thousands of citizens fled as explosions and gunfire rocked major cities, and dozens were killed, according to reports.
Since then, missiles have rained down across the country, and Russian tanks have entered major cities, including the capital Kyiv.
