Ukraine has launched its first agricultural processing and distribution center in Ghana, marking a significant expansion of its global food security initiative, Food from Ukraine.
The announcement was made by Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko, who said the facility represents Ukraine’s first agricultural hub on the African continent.
It was developed in partnership with Ghana’s government and Ukrainian agribusiness stakeholders, following agreements reached during a Food from Ukraine conference held in November 2025 under the sponsorship of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The new center is designed to combine Ukrainian agricultural products with locally sourced Ghanaian goods to produce and distribute food aid packages. Future phases are expected to expand into local processing, packaging, and distribution operations within Ghana, strengthening domestic supply chains.
Initial deliveries have already included locally produced rice and pasta manufactured in Ghana using Ukrainian flour. During the inauguration ceremony, about 4,000 food packages were distributed to vulnerable groups, including widows and low-income households.
Svyrydenko described the project as a new model for Ukraine’s international agricultural presence, blending humanitarian assistance with economic partnership and local development. She emphasized that Ghana is seen as a key strategic partner in West Africa for expanding humanitarian outreach and boosting trade along the region’s Atlantic coast.
She also said Ukraine is prepared to share agricultural expertise, technologies, and production methods to help improve global food productivity and strengthen international food security cooperation.
