Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko and Brussels Mayor Philippe Close, discussed on Sunday, options for cooperation in the reconstruction of Mariupol city after its liberation from Russian forces.
"The mayor of Mariupol, Vadym Boichenko, met with the mayor of Brussels, Philippe Close, during his working trip to Belgium. They discussed options for cooperation in matters of reviving Mariupol after its de-occupation and implementation of the Mariupol Reborn Plan," Mariupol council said in a statment, according to Ukrinform news agency.
Moreover, Boychenko said that the reconstruction of Mariupol is a challenge not only for Ukraine but also for the whole of Europe.
"The city, which has become a symbol of the devastating Russian war, may turn into a symbol of victory and the unity of the whole world in its struggle for peace, freedom and democracy," he explained, adding , "The pioneering experience and expertise of Brussels will help in Building a new Mariupol."
