At least 287 Ukrainian children have been killed since the start of the Russian war on Ukraine, the Prosecutor's Office in Kyiv said.

On Saturday, the public prosecutor reported that more than 492 other children were injured.

Investigations revealed, according to the same agency, that in addition to the already known cases in the city of Mariupol, 24 children died as a result of the indiscriminate shelling of the Russian army.

The agency added that the mentioned figures are not complete because investigations into currently disputed areas and the areas temporarily occupied by Moscow and then recaptured by Ukraine are still ongoing.

The public prosecutor's report stated that 1971 buildings for schools and educational institutions were damaged by the shelling, of which 194 were completely destroyed.

This data could not be validated by independent sources.

It is noteworthy that since the beginning of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine on February 24, Western countries, led by the US, have sent billions of dollars in weapons and ammunition to support the Ukrainian forces against the Russian army, in a move that Moscow considered aimed at inflaming and prolonging the conflict.

The Russian president confirmed that Russia does not plan to occupy Ukrainian territory and that the goal of the operation is to protect people who, for eight years, have been subjected to persecution and genocide by the Kyiv regime.
