Ukraine has issued a formal apology to Finland after acknowledging that its drones violated Finnish airspace in an incident that raised security concerns along the Russian border.
Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Heorhii Tykhyi said Kyiv has admitted responsibility and is cooperating with Finnish authorities by providing relevant information to support the ongoing investigation.
The incident occurred on March 29, when two drones crashed inside Finland. Finnish Prime Minister Petteri Orpo described the घटना as a serious breach of territorial integrity and security.
Finland’s Defense Ministry had earlier reported detecting low-flying, slow-moving drones over maritime areas and southeastern parts of the country near the Russian border.
The apology comes amid heightened regional tensions, as increased drone activity linked to the ongoing conflict continues to impact neighboring countries and raise concerns over airspace security in Northern Europe.
