The UK has warned its citizens against traveling to the Chinese city of "Wuhan" except for necessity, after the outbreak of the Coronavirus, which killed 17 people there and infected hundreds.

In an official statement, the UK foreign office said, “Travelers should not visit Wuhan, capital of Hubei Province, due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus there.”

Moreover, it also explained that the World Health Organization (WHO) is scheduled to make a decision later today on whether to declare a global emergency over the outbreak of a new flu-like virus spreading in and beyond China.

It is worth mentioning that, "Coronavirus” can affect animals and humans and cause a group of diseases that range from the common cold to severe ones, such as those caused by acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS).

Earlier, regional health authorities in China have confirmed 13 new cases of the Wuhan coronavirus, bringing the total number of cases in mainland China to 611.

According to media reports, the Hong Kong government has not formally confirmed the presence of the virus in the city, but said it is investigating two “highly suspected” cases. Preliminary tests of the first inpidual were positive for the virus.

The self-governing island of Taiwan has reported a confirmed case of the coronavirus.
