The British government plans to remove the last remaining honorary military title from former Prince Andrew, brother of King Charles III, according to Defense Secretary John Healey.
The announcement follows King Charles’s decision last Thursday to strip Andrew of his royal titles amid growing public outrage over his association with the late American financier Jeffrey Epstein, who died in prison in 2019 while awaiting trial.
Speaking to the BBC, Healey stated that Andrew had already relinquished several honorary military roles and that the government, under the King’s direction, is now working to remove his final title as Vice Admiral.
He added that the government would act according to the King’s recommendations regarding any medals or distinctions awarded to Andrew during his military service.
Before his withdrawal from public life, Andrew had served as a Royal Navy helicopter pilot during the 1982 Falklands War.
