The UK will deploy an air defense system to Kuwait to help protect British and Kuwaiti interests in the Gulf following a reported drone attack on a Kuwaiti oil facility, the prime minister’s office said Friday.
A spokesperson for Downing Street said Prime Minister Keir Starmer discussed the move during a phone call with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
The system, known as Rapid Sentry, is expected to enhance air defense capabilities in the region after the overnight attack.
Downing Street condemned the strike as reckless and reaffirmed the UK’s support for Kuwait and its Gulf allies.
