The UK has successfully tested new long-range strike weapons that could be supplied to Ukraine within months, as London seeks faster and more cost-effective alternatives to existing missile systems.
The new weapons are designed to strike targets at distances of at least 500 kilometers while carrying warheads weighing more than 225 kilograms. Recent trials were conducted at a testing range in the Hebrides, with further evaluations planned across the UK.
The initiative is part of a British effort to accelerate domestic weapons production and strengthen military support for Ukraine. The UK Ministry of Defense has challenged industry partners to develop systems capable of travelling at speeds above 600 km/h while keeping production costs to around £400,000 per unit.
Officials also want manufacturers to be able to produce at least 20 weapons per month within months of receiving production orders, highlighting the growing focus on scalable and affordable long-range munitions.
