Britain is deploying military personnel and equipment to Belgium after a series of drone sightings near major airports, the Royal Air Force confirmed on Sunday.
Last week, Brussels International Airport and Liège Airport, one of Europe’s largest cargo hubs, were temporarily closed after unidentified drones were detected near a military base storing US nuclear weapons.
The UK agreed to send personnel and equipment to assist Belgium following a request from Belgian authorities. RAF capabilities have already begun deploying to support the country in addressing the drone threat.
The UK Defense Ministry also announced that a team of RAF specialists will be sent to Belgium to respond to rogue drone activity, reinforcing NATO’s commitment to joint security.
Recent months have seen multiple airports across Europe suspend flights due to drone incidents, highlighting growing vulnerabilities in aviation security.
