British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer stressed the need for de-escalation across the Middle East and unrestricted humanitarian access to the Gaza Strip during a press conference in Berlin today, Wednesday, alongside German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, according to the official UK government website.
Starmer stated that Britain and Germany share a common commitment to resolving the Middle East crisis, calling for a ceasefire agreement and the release of all detainees.
He added that both countries also agree on the importance of working together towards a political solution based on the establishment of a secure and stable Palestinian state alongside Israel, affirming that this is the only way to ensure long-term peace and security for both Israelis and Palestinians.
Starmer acknowledged that achieving this goal is not easy but emphasized their commitment to pursuing it together, as, he noted, Britain can more effectively advance its interests when standing alongside its friends and partners.
