British Prime Minister Boris Johnson affirmed, on Wednesday, that he will not resign over the Downing Street garden party during the first lockdown in May.
Asked by an opposition Liberal Democrat lawmaker whether it was now time to resign, Johnson told parliament: "No."
"I apologise sincerely for any misjudgments that were made," he added, before asking her to "wait for the inquiry next week" before drawing any conclusions.
He said people should await the outcome of an inquiry into alleged parties held in his Downing Street residence during coronavirus lockdowns.
Last week, the prime minister apologized for attending the Downing Street garden party, adding that he had “learned enough to know there were things we simply did not get right”.
Addressing the Commons under intense pressure from MPs, the prime minister said: “With hindsight, I should have sent everyone back inside. I should have found some other way to thank them.”
“I believed implicitly that this was a work event,” he told the Commons, adding that he “must take responsibility” for events that took place.
