UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has urged Israeli President Isaac Herzog to take "immediate steps" towards a ceasefire in the ongoing war between Israeli forces and Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
UK Prime Minister's office stated, "The Prime Minister said that immediate steps must be taken towards a ceasefire to facilitate the release of hostages and allow more humanitarian aid to reach those in dire need."
The statement added, "The Prime Minister reiterated his continued support for Israel's right to defend itself in accordance with international law."
Starmer met with Herzog in Paris, where both are attending the Olympic Games.
