The UK government has announced a £10 million ($13 million) aid package to support relief efforts in Myanmar following the devastating earthquake that struck on March 28.
British Deputy Defense Minister Jennifer Chapman stated that UK-funded regional partners have already begun mobilizing resources to provide humanitarian assistance. She emphasized that the financial aid will bolster these ongoing efforts.
The powerful earthquake has claimed over 1,600 lives in Myanmar and caused widespread destruction, with neighboring Thailand also reporting casualties and damage.
The UK’s aid package aims to help affected communities recover from the disaster by supporting emergency relief, reconstruction, and humanitarian assistance.
