The UK Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office announced on Saturday an increase in humanitarian aid to Myanmar, boosting support by £22.45 million for the year.

This additional funding will help address the escalating crisis in Myanmar, where nearly one million people are at risk due to the ongoing conflict and humanitarian emergency.

In a statement, the UK government confirmed that nearly one million individuals in Myanmar would receive essential healthcare services in the first six months of 2025.

The aid package will also provide maternal and child health services to over one million women and children.

Additionally, food assistance will be distributed to about 86,000 people, while 142,000 others will benefit from reproductive health services and treatment for diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria.

This increase in aid is being provided amid an unprecedented humanitarian crisis, with nearly 20 million people in Myanmar requiring support.

The situation has worsened twentyfold since the military coup that took place four years ago, which continues to devastate the country.
