UK Imposes Sanctions on 65 more Russian People

The UK government announced on Thursday that they imposed new sanctions on 65 Russians, against the back backdrop of the Russian military services in Ukraine.

British Foreign Minister Liz Truss said in a statement, that the news sanctions target a range of strategic figures and industries in Russia, including the Russian Railways Company and the Kronstadt Defense Company, the largest producer of drones in Russia In addition to a group Wagner Private Military.

The new sanctions affect six Russian banks, among them are “Alpha Bank” and “Alrosa” group of companies (the world’s largest company in the diamond mining sector).

The new British blacklist includes business in Russia, including the billionaire oil tycoon Eugene Shvidler, founder of Tinkoff bank Oleg Tinkov, Herman Gref, the CEO of Russia’s largest bank Sberbank, and Polina Kovaleva, Foreign Minister Lavrov’s stepdaughter.

Galina Danilchenko, who was installed by Russia as the ‘mayor’ of Melitopol is also sanctioned.

The Foreign Ministry noted that the UK imposed on more than 1000 people and entities in Russia since Moscow began its military operation in Ukraine.

In addition to that, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions against 11 institutions and 4 people linked to the defense sector in Belarus, against the backdrop of the development of events around Ukraine.
