The UK imposed a ban on importing gold from Russia, it will a ban on importing Russian oil and coal.
This statement was made by the British government website on Thursday.
According to the statement, the last amendments prohibit the import from Moscow of oil, petroleum, coal products, and gold, as well as the purchase, supply, and delivery of these products directly or indirectly.
The statement added that the ban on importing gold will come into force on July 21, 2022, while the ban on the import of coal will be valid on August 10, 2022, and the ban on oil imports will enter into force on December 31, 2022.
Moreover, the amendments prohibit giving technical support, financial services, and related mediation services.
Since the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, the West, including the United Kingdom, has been imposing sanctions against Russia, affecting different economic sectors, companies, and inpiduals.
In the same vein, the European Union (EU) mentioned it will ban all imports of oil brought in by sea from Russia by the end of 2022.
The EU is less keen to impose sanctions on Russian gas because it relies on it for about 40% of its gas needs.
In March, it said it would reduce gas imports by two-thirds within a year, but has not agreed on further action.
