Jocelyn Woollard, the UK government’s Arabic-language spokesperson for the Middle East and North Africa, said Egypt has a unique atmosphere, describing the country as unlike any other place in the world.
In a video posted on her Instagram account, Woollard said she had arrived in Egypt for the first time during what she described as a very important week for relations between Egypt and the United Kingdom.
“I arrived in Egypt today. The energy in the country is different, even the weather feels different,” she said.
Woollard added that visitors can sense history everywhere from the moment they leave the airport, while also feeling the kindness and generosity of the Egyptian people.
“There is truly no place in the world like Egypt,” she said.
The British spokesperson noted that her visit comes during an important week for Egyptian-British relations. She also asked her followers to suggest Egyptian dishes she should try during her stay.
The visit comes as UK Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper is visiting Egypt, while British Prime Minister Keir Starmer is also expected to visit the country soon.
