France, Germany, and the United Kingdom considered that Tehran`s recent announcement about increasing the Uranium enrichment rate at the Natanz reactor is a "worrying matter" that contradicts the nuclear agreement.

This came after the law voted by the Iranian parliament on increasing enrichment rates as part of dealing with Western sanctions.

In a joint statement, the three countries made it clear that the law recently voted in the Iranian parliament allows for the development of the enrichment process, which is a very worrying matter and contradicts Tehran's obligations.

They called on Tehran to "return from that decision if it wanted to" preserve space for diplomacy.

The statement also welcomed the statements of US President-elect Joe Biden on the nuclear deal and his desire to return to negotiations. They noted that if Tehran adopts the decisions it recently made, this will torpedo the diplomatic opportunity that was recently created with the advent of the new US administration.

Last November, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh confirmed that Tehran would return to its commitments to the nuclear deal if the United States and Europe returned to fulfill their full obligations towards the agreement.
