British Foreign Secretary David Lammy and French Foreign Minister (FM) Stéphane Séjourné warned of the risk of escalation in the Middle East and called on Iran to refrain from launching any attack on Israel.
In a joint statement issued during their visit to the region, the ministers stated, "The risk of conflict spreading in the Middle East has never been greater than it is now."
The ministers added, "We urge Iran and its proxies to abandon threats of military action against Israel. We have stressed to all parties the necessity of de-escalation."
They also expressed their support for the efforts of Egypt, Qatar, and the United States to secure a ceasefire deal in Gaza and the release of hostages, noting that "a two-state solution within the framework of international law is the only path to achieving lasting peace for Israelis and Palestinians."
