British Foreign Secretary, Yvette Cooper, arrives in Egypt today, Wednesday, June 17, to discuss the next steps for restoring the right of transit passage through the Strait of Hormuz, and to resume progress on the 20-point Gaza peace plan.

The UK Foreign Secretary will also discuss other key priorities for British cooperation with the Egyptian government, ranging from trade and national security to migration and clean energy, as well as the efforts being made by both countries to ensure a ceasefire and provide humanitarian relief in Sudan.

On Thursday, June 18, the Foreign Secretary will meet with her Egyptian counterpart, Foreign Minister Dr. Badr Abdelatty, where they will co-chair the UK-Egypt Partnership Council meetings.

These meetings will review the development of bilateral relations between the two countries and explore shared opportunities and challenges in the areas of growth, migration, and regional security.

This intensified cooperation between both sides comes in preparation for launching a formal strategic partnership later this year.

The two ministers will also discuss a number of regional issues where both countries agree on the necessity of achieving stability and peace.
