The British government announced that the United Kingdom (UK) and Egypt will launch a strategic partnership during Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer’s visit to Cairo in the fall of 2025.

The partnership aims to create new opportunities for mutual growth and strengthen economic ties, with a shared commitment to enhancing the prosperity and security of both nations.

According to a statement from the British Prime Minister’s Office on Wednesday, Starmer and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi will co-chair an investment conference that will bring together leading British and Egyptian companies.

The statement added that the UK and Egypt share deep and historic ties, cooperating across a wide range of areas, from climate change to international security, from trade and investment to tourism.

These relations are further enriched by strong people-to-people and cultural connections.

However, both countries are now looking to deepen this cooperation in pursuit of shared prosperity and greater regional and global security.

Therefore, the governments of Egypt and the United Kingdom have committed to elevating their bilateral relationship into a strategic partnership.

This commitment marks a significant milestone that will enable both governments to enhance and organize existing cooperation in line with shared interests and priorities, including trade and investment, irregular migration, regional security, and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.
