United Kingdom has deployed a new low-cost missile defense system in the Middle East aimed at countering the growing threat posed by hostile drones and unmanned aerial attacks.
According to a statement from the UK Ministry of Defense, the advanced system uses laser-guidance technology to convert unguided rockets into precision weapons capable of intercepting enemy drones and other airborne threats at lower operational costs.
British officials confirmed that the system has already been used in active operations in the region alongside missions carried out by Eurofighter Typhoon jets from the Royal Air Force’s No. 9 Squadron.
The operations were conducted as part of ongoing efforts to protect British interests and allied partners in the Middle East amid continuing regional security threats.
The UK Ministry of Defense said the development of lower-cost defense systems is increasingly important as drone warfare expands and unmanned aerial threats become more frequent and sophisticated.
Officials added that affordable precision technologies offer a more sustainable and effective long-term solution for defending British forces deployed overseas.
