Britain is considering deploying thousands of interceptor drones to the Middle East as regional tensions continue to rise, according to a report published Saturday by The Telegraph.
The report said Prime Minister Keir Starmer may approve sending large numbers of the drones as part of efforts to strengthen British defenses in the region.
Military officials are reportedly studying whether the Octopus interceptor drone system, manufactured in the United Kingdom and currently used by Ukraine against Russia, could also be deployed to counter Iranian drones.
The system was designed to intercept and destroy hostile unmanned aerial vehicles and could play a role in reinforcing the United Kingdom’s defensive capabilities amid growing security concerns linked to Iran’s drone operations.
